Eurozone bank deadline puts markets on edge

A deadline for European banks to repay 442 billion euros of crisis funding kept stock markets on edge on Wednesday, after a sudden drop in confidence over doubts about global economic recovery.

Just days after G20 world leaders pledged in Toronto to slash back state debt and nurture a shaky recovery, markets had plunged on Tuesday on heightened concern over a double-dip global recession after a wave of poor economic data.
