Peter Hammill Lille, France 1996
March 5, 2010 | In: Videos
I originally wanted to upload the great performance of This Side of the Looking Glass from 1982 with the orchestra, but someone already uploaded it. So instead, i’m uploading this rare (?) performance of Traintime from Lille 20/4/96, also with an orchestra

I’m so intrigued by the combination of Hammill and orchestra. Did he play any other songs with the orchestra? Does footage of these hypothetical “other songs” exist?

contorted by the fire in his veins-marionette in the hands of passion….the caged beast behind his eyes roaring from the darkest corners of his voice box….

many thx for uploading this. Signed: an NL amateur singer/songwriter, who takes lots of inspiration from this and other Hammill material on YT.

In my opinion one of the most brilliant voices of Rock, along with Steve Marriott, David Surkamp and Ian Gillan.

Thank you. I’m afraid I didn’t read the comment at all. What I really wanted to know was exactly what you wrote in this reply: just one song in a general event with other musicians all supported by this big orchestra. Great performance by the way and the arrangement is brilliant!!

I wrote the date/venue in the description.
Apart from that i can tell you that it was a complete concert with various artists. All the performed songs were backed by the orchestra.
Hammill only performed Traintime.
